Christchurch Spitalfields Model

In collaboration with Ella Arne, Paige Burke, Nichola Jung, Alise Lamothe, Soravis Nawbhanich - Student Project

This 1/8”:1’ foam core survey model of Christ Church in Spitalfields London was used as a tool in understanding ‘craft’ and ‘ruin’. The model was deconstructed into a narrative of what the basic concept of the 1729 church was, which ended up being solid-frame-solid when moving from its front to its rear. By building the model, the understanding of how it was constructed and joined became apparent, as well as its spatial qualities.
